The One Saying That Can Potentially Sabotage Your Health

Every day people are coming up with witty quotes and sayings that either motivates, encourages, makes you think, or just tries to get a laugh. There has been some good ones and well, you know the other side of the coin. There is this one saying in particular that everyone likes to use to fit their circumstance, but should we really be saying it? In this post, I’d like to share with you what that saying is and how you can combat it.

In all my life, I’ve heard a lot of people tell me some good sayings and some that just made me think while others were complete duds. So here is the saying that can potentially harm your fitness goals. Are you ready? Drumroll please.

The saying that could potentially harm your fitness goals is this, “Everything in Moderation.” Now why would I say that this could harm your fitness goals? Well there are several things that come to my mind.

I don’t know what your beliefs are, but I’m going to bring in the Bible on this for illustration purposes. Imagine if we took this same saying and applied it to sin. What if we began telling ourselves I think I’ll sin in moderation? No, we try to avoid sin at any cost. It’s no different when it comes to our healthy lifestyle.

Let me put it this way. We don’t tell ourselves that we’re going to gossip in moderation cause if we do, then gossip will soon overtake our thinking and our words. But yet, that’s what people tell themselves when it comes to their nutrition plan. It’s not right to have the mentality of every now and then it’s ok to have fast food because if you do, then you’re going to make that a habit.

I want to give you three things you can do to combat this so that you can reach your goals and live a healthy lifestyle without compromising your plan.

1. Educate

There’s an old saying that says, “Knowing is half the battle.” We live in a world where there is a wealth of information at our fingertips on any subject. Sometimes I think that could be a curse, but putting my thoughts aside, there is a lot of information on how to live healthy lives. From exercising to eating the right foods, in order to implement what you’ve learned, you need to research it first.

Did you know that our body frame can play a big part in our fitness journey? If not, you should go here and read up on how to calculate what frame you are. Read up on various nutrition plans and weight training programs, so you can be well rounded. No pun intended.

2. Exercise

If, “Knowing is half the battle,” what is the other half? Now you’re probably thinking to yourself, I’ve heard everything on the subject on fitness and nutrition. Well, you might have, but are you implementing it? Taking action is the other half of the equation. Knowing about a particular subject is one thing, but acting and living it, is crucial for success. We all can talk a good game, but showing that we can win is better than saying we can. When we begin moving towards our target, you'll be one step further than if you just told someone your step. Start moving!! 

3. Evaluate

Now that you know you should be educating and exercising to help combat, "everything in moderation." The third tip is evaluate what you have implemented from what you learned and took action on. This is actually the most important part of the whole process. Why do you think people track their progress when following a fitness plan? It's because they need to see where they started and where they end up so they can change it up for the next go around. You need to do the same here.

No matter what situation you are faced with, these tips will always help you succeed. Researching a topic, putting what you've learn to practice, and then evaluating your progress will always lead you upwards because now you know where you're headed.
